Royal Oak police investigate shooting near downtown

Police are investigating after shots were fired into a hookah bar in downtown Royal Oak early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Hookah Joe, located on South Washington Avenue, just north of West Lincoln Avenue.

Police say it started with a fight inside the location, that moved outside. It's believed that's when the shooting suspects left, coming back to fire shots into the business from their vehicle.

Multiple shots were fired and one man inside the business was injured.

Police are continuing to collect evidence. Witnesses said the suspects fled the scene in a silver or gray vehicle, likely a Dodge Charger, that had tinted windows, chrome rims and a dent on the passenger side door.

One suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male with a thin build between 6" to 6'3" tall. The other suspect is a light-skinned black male with a medium build and a ponytail that is about 6' tall.
