Drivers weary of summer road construction will get a break Friday afternoon on I-275.
Southbound I-275 will be reopened at 3 p.m. Friday, July 1 between Five Mile and the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange, said the Michigan Department of Transportation Thursday.
The closure began in May as part of the Revive 275 project.
But the bad news is that the project switches sides to the northbound side of the freeway. A closure on northbound I-275 begins Tuesday for the stretch between I-96/M-14 and I-696/I-96/M-5. That northbound closure goes into effect at 10 a.m. July 5.
