Second suspect arrested in Family Dollar robbery & shootout with guard
DETROIT (WJBK) - A second man wanted for the violent armed robbery that turned into a shootout between an armed security guard and two armed robbers has been taken into custody.
Detroit Police said a second suspect was arrested in the shooting after turning up at a Detroit hospital with a gunshot wound.
One suspect dead, guard shot fending off robbers at Detroit Family Dollar
According to Detroit police, two men approached a cashier at the Family Dollar on Schoolcraft near the Southfield Freeway and demanded money. The guard responded and got into a shootout with the suspects.
The guard killed one of the suspects, a black man in his 20s and hit the other man, also a black man in his 20s. The second man was able to drive away from the scene but later turned up at the hospital.
The guard was hit as well and was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
