A semi-truck crashed into a party store at the corner of Fourteen Mile and Mound, injuring four people in Sterling Heights.

Station clerk Razu Awald was working Monday afternoon at a Mobile station when suddenly he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"As soon as it happened, I got on a box and I saw whole half of semi-truck in there at least 10 to 12 feet," said Awald.

Officials say the semi-truck rammed into a Sterling Heights liquor store just before 1:30 p.m. Officials say none of the four people were injured seriously.

"A semi-truck going northbound on Mound lost control and ended up going into building behind me pinning the driver inside the truck and injuring at least three people inside the building," said  Sterling Heights Fire Chief Chris Martin.

Officials believe the semi-truck hit the rear of a Dodge Journey before it barreled into the liquor store.  The driver received a ticket but the investigation is still ongoing.

"I don't think it was a health issue, I think it was more of a road issue with other vehicles," Martin said.

But the damage to this store is an entirely different story. The front part of the building is caved in with damaged bricks covering the ground.

"A significant amount of damage not only to the outside but inside of building it’s trashed," Martin said. "They are going to be out of business for a while."
