Almost as quick as they rolled in, severe thunderstorms rolled through in SE Michigan Friday.

DTE outages are scattered across the metro area, with the heaviest concentration down Merriman Road from just north of Michigan Avenue to Ecorse Road where over 2,500 customers have lost power.

About 75,000 are without power, said a spokesperson.

Most of the metro area had severe thunderstorms blow through with a quick burst of heavy rain.

Severe storms brought three-quarter inch hail in some places and wind gusts up 60 miles per hour. The high winds brought down a large tree (above) on Westchester in Westland in a photo provided by a viewer.

Wind also pulled down an awning at a gas station, also in Westland.

One neighborhood in the Pennsylvania and Ziegler area in Taylor is also reporting that the storm damage was severe. Power lines are down in the south end of the city, according to police.

Although the strongest winds were reported by viewers in the Wayne-Westland area, the National Weather Service has not confirmed that one touched down as of yet, reports Weather Authority Lori Pinson.

Pinson  will have the complete forecast at 10 and 11.
