Shelby Township break-in: Community concerned, calling for suspect to be caught

A Shelby Township break-in attempt had neighbors worried and calling for action.

Dig deeper:

It happened Sunday night where a good alarm system scared the intruder off before he was able to steal anything. Meanwhile, the attempted crime has many concerned, and they want the suspect caught before he commits another break-in.

The brazen home break-in attempt was caught on personal security cameras which can be viewed above.

The homeowner, who wants to stay anonymous, was horrified by what she saw on her home security cameras Sunday night.

"The kids were frightened, everyone was scared, but police were on sight in seconds," the homeowner told FOX 2.

They were first alerted that something was wrong with a phone call from her alarm company. When reviewing the footage from her many cameras, they saw what happened.

A man walks up the driveway and, with an apparent strong shoulder to the door, he splinters the wood in the frame and has access to the garage.

"He goes up to open the front door, and the sirens have already gone off for the alarm," the homeowner said.

The home alarm system kept the criminal from going any further. He exited the way he came and calmly walked back down the driveway and disappeared into the night.

What's next:

Police told FOX 2 they are aware of other reports in surrounding cities of attempted break-ins but can't say if it's the same suspect or not at this time. Officlas are actively working on the home invasion and are hoping some tips from the public will lead to an arrest very soon.
