2 shot in Meridian Mall parking lot, no arrests made
Police are looking for suspects involved in a double shooting on Friday afternoon in Meridian Township.
FOX 2 - Two people were shot outside the Meridian Mall east of Lansing on Friday afternoon.
The backstory:
Meridian Township police say the victims have been hospitalized, but there have been no arrests.
Meridian Township police said it responded at 1:25 p.m. to a shooting report in the parking lot on the east side of the mall near Dick's Sporting Goods.
"The parties involved had fled the area prior to the arrival of the police. It is unknown at this time how many people were involved in the shooting," police said in a Facebook post.
Police have released a description of the suspects' vehicles, asking for help from the public.
The first vehicle is described as a burgundy sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300 or Toyota Camry with dark tinted windows and dark-colored rims.
The second vehicle is described as a black sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu with tinted windows.
"Involved parties have been identified and interviewed at an area hospital," police said in a statement on Facebook. "The investigation remains ongoing."
The mall is open for business and secured, police said, but advised that a portion of the parking lot is closed due to the investigation.
"It is not believed that there is a continued threat to the public," the police department posted on Facebook.
