On Saturday December 16 at approximately 11:50 PM troopers from the Metro South post responded to the MGM casino garage in reference to a road rage incident. The preliminary  investigation revealed that a male from Ypsilanti was traveling to Detroit on eastbound 96.

The driver believed that just west of I 94 he may have inadvertently cut someone off. As the driver continues on he notices a vehicle tailgating him and he "may" have let off the gas. After a few seconds he makes a lane change, moves to the right lane and the tailgating vehicle goes into the left lane and begins to pass him on I 96 somewhere between Warren and Martin Luther King when one shot is fired at his vehicle as he is being passed. The suspect vehicle is described as light colored with three occupants.

No one was injured in the incident and the bullet did not penetrate the vehicle. Troopers and detective’s shut down the freeway for approximately two hours and conducted a search in the area of Warren and MLK with canines and troopers on foot and collected evidence from the incident.
Investigation is continuing and this incident is not related to the December 7th shooting incident. MSP reminds the public that if you become involved in an altercation with another driver, do not make eye contact and try to exit the freeway or turn off the route to let the other vehicle continue on. If you feel threatened, call 911. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Metro South post at 734 287-5000.
