Skies look promising for eclipse viewing in Metro Detroit
We are getting close everyone! The Great American Eclipse is only one week away and every meteorologist in the country is scanning all the models, frantically checking if rain is in the forecast. The Weather Authority has been watching for a few weeks now and things are starting to look pretty good for Metro Detroit!
As of August 14th, Monday the 21st looks partly cloudy but dry here in Southeast Michigan. In fact, over the last few days, weather models have not only pushed rain out of the forecast, but also are starting to bring in more clear skies.
This of course is pivotal for a good solar eclipse viewing! High temps will be in the lower 80s that day with a light breeze.
Total solar eclipse map shows what it will look like from wherever you are
If you are planning to travel into southern Illinois or Kentucky to see "Totality"... well, the forecast remains one to watch. Spotty showers are starting to show up in the forecast for Monday afternoon - not ideal to watch the eclipse.
However, as we always say for forecasts over 7 days out, things could change and you know we will keep you updated!
All this week, Derek Kevra will be digging deep into the science of eclipses. Check back to fox2detroit.com for more details!
