Sources: Detroit Animal Control director out of job
DETROIT - The Detroit Animal Control Director Harry Ward is out, according to sources.
Harry Ward will no longer run the department, reports FOX 2's Hannah Saunders.
The change was announced after a series of reports of animal abuse allegations detailed in a whistleblower lawsuit by a former employee.
A new director will be starting Monday.
Other pet owners came forward with similar accusations while others have said their dogs died there.
Ward told FOX 2 in a previous report that conditions of the facility at times had rats and cockroaches inside, although they tried their best to quarantine disease.
Of late numerous activist groups have protested at the facility which in turn has promised changes.
