Spice up your Cinco de Mayo party

Make each place-setting magnífico with maracas! First, make your plates pop by stacking two brightly hued fiesta plates on top of a square black charger. Tie two mini maracas together with coordinating curling ribbon in kiwi green and bright orange. After the conga line, your amigos can shake them all the way home as fun party favors.

These fiesta-themed plates, cups and napkins will really turn up the heat on your tableware. Every celebration should be just as fun for the party host as it is for the guests, this tableware is perfect for easy cleanup and means no dishes after the guests leave!

3. Party Accessories for guests to wear - Having a buffet doesn't always mean food! Set out a variety of Cinco-themed accessories and props like sombreros, chili pepper sunglasses, maracas and beads to create an "all you can wear" accessories buffet.

These are perfect for photo opps / props for photo booths so you and your guests can snap Instagram-worthy pics of all the fun.

Whether you're throwing a fiesta or attending one, these accessories will make you the life of the party and are must-haves for any Cinco de Mayo event. I picked all these accessories up at the Party City in the Northwood Shopping Center, but you can find these at any local Party City in the Detroit - there are more than 15 in the area and the "fiesta" department at Party City is open year-round!

4. Fresh citrus and peppers incorporated throughout décor - Pick up a few extra lemons, limes and jalapenos while you're doing your Cinco de Mayo food shopping and use them as décor.

Drop them in clear glass vases with a few maracas or place them on layered plastic cake stands for a fresh and simple centerpiece.

Take any vases from around your home to create this centerpiece or swing by your local Party City - you'll find a variety of shapes and sizes for any display.

5. Super Caliente Salsa Bar - You can't fiesta without salsa! Kick up your chips & salsa a few notches for Cinco and create a mini salsa bar. Trays of trendy mini glasses are perfecto for sampling a variety of authentic Mexican salsas, and check out how cute these jalapeño peppers work as sign holders!

Offer something mild, medium and hot and make sure to label them so guests can choose to their liking. We made a few authentic salsas for this display, like Mango, Cactus and Chili and you can find the recipes and tons more party ideas on partycity.com in our party ideas galleries.

If you're pressed for time, liven up any salsa - even store bought - by serving it in a fun oversized margarita glass.

The rim of a sombrero also makes a perfect serving tray for tortilla chips and really adds an unexpected touch to your salsa bar.

6. Create a Margarita Cantina - After guests taste your fiery chili salsa, cool down with some must-try Margaritas, cervezas and even some sweets.

Make your margaritas spicy and sweet with a little habanero and rock candy garnish.

Now this cocktail is a cool drink idea for hot nights -- Micheladas are a spicy Mexican version of the Bloody Mary made with two parts beer and one part tomato juice, a little bit of lime, and a few dashes of hot sauce.

Satisfy any guests' sweet tooth with these easy to assemble Cinco de Mini Margaritas. Fill mini margarita glasses with colorful chocolate drops or gumballs and garnish with a gummy fruit slice.
