Suicidal man fires shots at police station in Saline

A 39-year-old Manchester man was taken into custody after he drove to the Saline police station, called and declared he was suicidal and wanted them to kill him and then fired multiple shots at the station on Dec. 29.

At least one shot hit the building. 

Prior to arriving at the police station, Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to his residence in Manchester investigating a call about him being "suicidal." MSP troopers interviewed the caller. However, the man had already left his residence in his vehicle.

With the assistance of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Milan Police Department, Ann Arbor Police Department, Pittsfield Township Police Department and Michigan State Police the situation was deescalated, and the subject was taken into custody unharmed at about 8:30 a.m.

According to the Saline Police Department, the man was taken for mental health assistance, and charges are being considered for the shooting.
