Suspect who crashed into police car, fired shot at Dearborn officer is in custody
DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - Police in Dearborn say a person is in custody after firing a shot at an officer early Wednesday morning and crashing a vehicle into a police car.
We're told the situation began around 2:30 a.m. at Kennelworth and Henn streets, which is near Chase and Ford Roads.
We're told the suspect was involved in an assault nearby, an armed robbery and carjacking, then a chase. At one point the suspect in the stolen Impala even crashed into a Dearborn patrol car, damaging it.
A man named Mohamed who lives in the neighborhood tells us police took a portion of the gate from his father's house to process it for fingerprints. The suspect apparently jumped it while trying to run from officers after shooting at them.
Dogs from Michigan State Police were brought in to track down the suspect, who was taken into custody just before 7 a.m.
We're told police are still looking for two other suspects who may have been involved.
