Suspected drunken driver flips car in front yard of Macomb Twp. home

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says a man is facing an Operating While Intoxicated charge after his car was found on its side in the front lawn of a Macomb Township home.

Deputies were called around 1 a.m. Monday to the home on Porta Marina, which is near the intersection of Garfield and 21 Mile roads.

A 2016 Ford Explorer had crashed and was on its side in the front yard of the home. Deputies arrived and found two men still inside the vehicle.

The two men were extricated and taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening.

A witness told deputies he saw the Explorer speeding up Sanborn Drive, which intersects with Porta Marina. The witness told deputies he heard wheels screeching and the sound of the crash. The home at which the crash happened is at the intersection of the two streets.

The driver's blood is being tested for a BAC. Both the driver and the passenger are 28 years old and live on the same street, also in Macomb Township.

Deputies have not yet released the driver's name because he has not yet been formally charged.
