A high-end competitive swimsuit bandit is under arrest after an undercover sting in Bloomfield Township.

Earlier this week, Bloomfield Township police were called to the Bloomfield Sports Shop, which is on Maple Road near Lahser Road. The busines owner told police boxes of inventory had been stolen.

Earlier in the day, UPS dropped off four boxes outside the store that contained high-end competitive swimsuits and goggles. The swim gear was valued at nearly $5,000.

The store surveillance showed a heavy-set black male loading the boxes into a white pickup truck and leaving the area.

Detectives investigating the incident found that the male is Kenneth Beverly, a 50-year-old resident of Warren, and that he was attempting to sell the swimsuits online.

The detectives called Beverly and set up a deal to purchase several of the suits. With the assistance of Troy SIU, Bloomfield Township PD arrested Beverly after he attempted to sell the suits to an undercover officer.

A search of Beverly's apartment revealed the remainder of the stolen items.

Beverly was arraigned on July 28th on the charge of Larceny-greater than $1000 less than $20,000 (Felony). He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
