Test for measles "not needed" according to statement from Wayne County Health Department

Wayne County Airport Authority issued a statement Saturday that a flight carrying passengers from Las Vegas to Detroit was suspected to have a young passenger with measles. 

Around 9 p.m. on Saturday the child was suspected to have measles, the child and family were transported to the hospital where the child was evaluated. 

After evaluation the Wayne County Department of Health Veterans and Community Wellness (HVCW) determined this was not a case of the measles.

 Wayne County Department HVCW issued a statement Sunday. 

"Based on the assessment of the physician at the hospital, the Wayne County Health Department believes this is not a case of measles. It was determined testing was not needed," said Dr. Ruta Sharangpani of the Wayne County Department of Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness.
