Michigan U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Debbie Dingell are holding a press conference to call out anti-Muslim rhetoric that's permeated through the 2026 Midterm election cycle on Tuesday.

Both Democrats will speak alongside residents and other state lawmakers in Canton on Tuesday, using the opportunity to condemn "fear-based political messaging."

Others in attendance include state Sen. Stephanie Chang, Canton Township Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak, and others.

Vulgar Messaging in Michigan

The backstory:

Both anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic messaging has been reported around Metro Detroit this year.

In July, several communities in Oakland County were targeted with vulgar literature. Police in Berkley, Oak Park, and Huntington Woods have investigated the incidents.
