Two overnight freeway shootings investigated in Detroit

Michigan State Police are investigating two shootings that happened overnight on different freeways in Detroit.

Police say one of the shootings happened on westbound I-94 by Harper, and the other shooting happened on westbound I-96 by Davison. The I-94 victim was hit in the upper thigh, and was able to drive himself to a gas station at Gratiot and McClellan. He was taken to the hospital and has already been released. The I-96 victim was not hit but two bullet holes can be seen in his vehicle.

Police say the shootings happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday and were about five minutes apart, so at this time they're believed to be unconnected, random shootings.

Both areas of the freeway have since been reopened.
