VIDEO: Clawson road rage leads to man nearly run over, shot at
CLAWSON, Mich. (WJBK) - Police in Clawson say a road rage incident almost turned deadly after a driver tried to run over a man and then tried shooting at him in the parking lot of a bar.
It happened Sunday afternoon around 2:30. Surveillance video from The Hideout Restaurant and Bar shows two cars in the turn lane facing each other. One, a silver Pontiac Aztec, pulls into the bar's parking lot. Instead of turning away from the bar and into a shopping center across the street, the other car - a Chrysler 200 - pulls in the bar's parking lot.
A man got out of the Pontiac and began walking towards the Chrysler as the driver floored it and tried to run the man over. The man was able to jump out of the way.
The driver of the Chrysler later gets out and points a gun and shoot at the other man in the parking lot. The shooter missed and then got back in the car and drove away. There was also a woman riding in the car with him who appeared to be directing the shooter about what to do.
Police are trying to find the man and the woman, as well as a witness who could be seen walking down the street at the time of the incident.
"It happens every day if you drive and you pull into the center turn lane and there's another car there, you wait and you go about your business. The Chrysler 200 had time after the Aztec turned to just go about his business and opted not to," Lt. Scott Sarvello said. "Obviously there's some anger issues here and we definitely need to identify him, locate him, and talk to him."
Police are asking if anyone recognizes the car, woman, or man to call police.
