Violent night leaves two people dead, six wounded on east side


Friday night was a violent one on the east side of Detroit with 2 people killed and six wounded in three different incidents.

Gratiot Road

Five people were shot; one was killed on Gratiot outside a car wash.

The incident happened between Loretto and Whithorn on the east side. One man was killed and four are at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police are looking for the suspect described as a tall and thin black male in his early 20s, about 6 foot 4. 185 pounds running westbound between the houses.

Packard Street

Detroit police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man on Packard Street at Savage Avenue, south of Eight Mile.

The victim was walking with a 21-year-old friend when a black Dodge Stratus pulled up. Two suspects got out with one opening fire with a rifle. One of the 21-year-olds was wounded, one was not.

The suspect with the rifle was described as a black male in his 20s, 6 feet 2 inches 180 pounds, light complexion. The second suspect was a black male in his 20's 6 foot, 2 inches, 130 pounds wearing a gray shirt.

Meade Street

Two other men were shot in a robbery attempt when the victim and suspect were both wounded.

Police say a man was standing in front of a house when he was approached by a group of men who attempted to rob him in the 2000 block of Meade just east of I-75 and Dequindre.

The victim's brother in the house got his gun and there was a shootout. One of the robbery suspects was shot by the robbery victims' brother before he was shot in return.
