Volunteers fix up Detroit neighborhood with Habitat for Humanity

DETROIT (WJBK) - Fifty volunteers with Habitat for Humanity pitched in Tuesday for the Rock the Block program to improve homes in select neighborhoods.

Brandon Thomas with Habitat for Humanity says there are are building porches, fixing hand rails, cleaning gutters, cleaning brush and other landscaping things for eight selected homes of the Bonnie Acres subdivision in the 11 Mile and Greenfield area.

The Rock the Block program occurs four times a year -- two in Southfield and two in Pontiac and based on need.
