Volunteers work to rehab Detroit's Hamilton Nursing Home

An aging nursing home for veterans in Detroit received a big upgrade.

Home Depot is working with the Michigan Veterans Foundation to renovate the Hamilton Nursing Home on Detroit's east side.

The home specializes in working with veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and other health issues related to their service in the military.

"It's a long time coming. You know, what it's really doing is alleviating a lot of health hazards, guys falling down and stuff," says Army veteran Donald Simmons.

The Home Depot foundation is donating one dollar, up to $500,000, for every photo of giving back to the community honoring a service member that's posted on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #serviceselfie.
