A Warren Fitzgerald High School teacher is accused of having sex with a female student in the classroom.

The suspect is 42-year-old Harold Williams and those connected with the school say they can't believe it.

"I am shocked, I am totally shocked," said Saif Islam, a Fitzgerald graduate.

Williams was arraigned on Criminal Sexual Conduct third degree. If convicted it is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Recent graduates of Fitzgerald we spoke with are stunned. Saif Islam said the accusations don't sound like the teacher he knew in class.

"I don't know, let's wait until it comes out," he said.

In court Warren Police said Williams, the Pharmacy Tech teacher, had sex with a 17-year-old female student in the classroom on at least one occasion.

Investigators say they began sexual relations for several months and it all started for her at age 17.

Nicole Reyes was in Harold Williams Pharmacy class before graduating.

"When I first found out I could not believe my eyes," she said. "I really just hope and pray these allegations are not true.

"He was a wonderful teacher for the two years I had him. I was just very baffled,"

The legal age of consent for sex in Michigan is 16. However, state law prohibits sex between teachers and students under 18 who are enrolled at the same school.

"I've always just seen him as a good role model and it's just really surprising to me because I didn't see this coming at all," said graduate Jonathan Walton.

There are no other known cases involving Williams that police are investigating at this time.
