Two police officers witnessed the early February accident on 21 Mile Road.  The crash killed 23-year-old Adrian Ossowski in the head-on collision,

Bieniewicz, 40, is in jail on a 75,000 bond. Police say she smelled of alcohol just after the crash.

Police said just after midnight, Bieniewicz, from Sterling Heights, was driving a 2012 Toyota Sienna minivan passed by officers near 21 Mile and Milonas at a high rate of speed.

The 40-year-old driver plowed into another car, a 2005 Audi, head-on with Ossowski from Shelby Township inside.

"You almost feel, you feel helpless," said Lt. Jeff Daniel, Shelby Twp. police to FOX 2 at the time. "You'd like to help, that's why all of us first responders get into this line of work to try and do something and make a difference.

They rendered whatever aid they could. I notified our fire dispatch that they will need their equipment for extraction.

"Somebody decided to have too much to drink and decided to drive. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever."
