Woman dies after escaping house fire by jumping from 2nd story window
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A woman who jumped from a house fire early Wednesday morning on Detroit's west side has died.
Capt. Dennis Richardson with the Detroit Fire Department says the 27-year-old has died but still needs to be identified.
Earlier, we had been told the woman jumped out a second story window and had broken bones but was expected to be fine. We're now told she also had burns to her airway, which likely became swollen as a result.
Two other people were in the home and got out safely, but they were not aware of the woman's full name to help authorities identify her.
Fire investigators aren't sure yet what caused the fire.
