Woman found beaten, naked in closed Detroit Cooley HS parking lot

Blood still covers the area where a woman was found brutally beaten and left naked in the Cooley High School parking lot.

She died at the hospital from severe head and face wounds. The only detail police have revealed about the victim is she was about 30 years old.

Neighbors like Francis Rolland peeked out their doors Tuesday afternoon when they saw a bunch of police over at the former school on Detroit's west side.

"It's devastating to see something like that happen so close," said neighbor Francis Rolland.

The woman couldn't tell them what happened or who she was because her injuries were so severe. She is still listed as a Jane Doe.

People who live in the area say police are always responding to incidents at the school. They say once it closed, it started attracting crime with everything from prostitution to drugs.

"We are trying to get them to do something with that, but it is just people going in and out of that school a lot," said Rolland.

Copper thieves have stripped the building, the insides are destroyed and neighbors see shady characters coming and going.

Detroit Public Schools owns the school, which has been closed up since 2012. A spokesperson with DPS told FOX 2 they are in the process of boarding it up.

Investigators say they are following up leads on this brutal murder.
