Woman found dead in closet at gruesome crime scene on Detroit's east side

DETROIT (WJBK) - The Detroit Police Department is on the scene of a gruesome homicide where they say a woman was found dead in a bedroom closet with a knife wound to her neck.

Police say they were called to a home in the 14100 block of E. State Fair Ave on Detroit's east side Friday morning. The call indicated 'family trouble' but when police knocked they said there was no answer at the door.

Officers peered inside the home and reported seeing a large amount of blood. They then forced their way in and said the suspect was trying to leave out the back door.

Police arrested the man and then searched the home. Inside of one of the closets they found the body of the woman. Police say her throat was cut.

Police have not released the name of the victim or the suspect. FOX 2's Erica Erickson will be on the scene throughout the day and will have more information as it develops.
