Woman killed, man hurt during apartment break-in in Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) - Police in Ypsilanti are investigating after a woman was fatally shot during a home invasion near Eastern Michigan University. A man was also critically injured. 

Police were called to the University Green Apartments in the 700 block of Green Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. When police got there, they saw a man had been shot in the common hallway. Police checked a nearby apartment and found a woman dead from a gunshot wound to the head. 

Police say personal items and drugs were stolen.

Police say they're looking for two black male in their early 20s that were dressed in all black at the time of the robbery. One of them also had a black backpack.  

It's not known right now if the suspect knew the victims. 

Police haven't given the victims names, but say the woman was 25 years old and the man was 29 years old. We're told neither of them were students at EMU. The apartments are about a mile north of the campus.
