Lions Sign Stevan Ridley

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday they have signed veteran running back Stevan Ridley.

Ridley, 27, played for the New York Jets last season.  In eight games, the LSU product had 36 carries for 90 yards and no touchdowns.

Lions GM Bob Quinn was part of the New England staff that drafted Ridley in the third round of the 2011 draft. Ridley played four seasons for the Patriots, won a Super Bowl, and had 22 touchdowns over 52 games.  In 2012 he ran for 1,263 yards on the ground.

Only in 2011 and 2012 did he play in every game.  In 2014 he tore his ACL and MCL.

Terms of the contract were not released.
