LISTEN: Trammell & Morris elected to MLB Hall of Fame

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WJBK/AP) - Tigers' legends Alan Trammell & Jack Morris have been elected to the 2018 Major League Baseball Hall of Fame by the Modern Baseball Era Committee.

Morris and Trammell were chosen Sunday by a 16-man panel that considered candidates from the sport's modern era.

Trammell, 59, played his entire career at shortstop with the Tigers from 1977-1996 and was also manager of the Tigers from 2003-2005.  The six-time All-Star hit .285 including 185 home runs and 2,365 career hits.  The four-time Gold Glove award winner won the World Series MVP in 1984 and won three Silver Slugger awards.

Trammell was drafted in the second round by the Tigers in the 1976 draft out of high school and made his Major League debut on September 9th, 1977.

Morris, 62, pitched for the Tigers from 1977-1990.  He also played for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays & Cleveland Indians.  The five-time All-Star had 254 career wins and a 3.90 ERA.  The four-time World Series champion had a career 3.90 ERA and won the World Series MVP as a member of the Minnesota Twins in 1991.  

The BYU alum was drafted in 1976 by the Tigers in the fifth round and made his debut in 1977.  He threw his lone no-hitter on April 7th, 1984 on his way to being a World Series champion that season.  In 1986 he had 21 wins which included a stretch where he threw three consecutive complete game shutouts.  

Trammell and Morris teamed to help the Tigers win the 1984 World Series.
