Martha Ford names new Lions president, sets up board for GM search
ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Detroit Lions Owner and Chairman of the Board Martha Firestone Ford announced today the appointment of Michigan native, Rod Wood, as the team’s new President and the establishment of an Advisory Board for the General Manager search.
Wood, 55, will oversee the business side of the organization and report directly to Mrs. Ford according to a team release.
For the past eight years, Wood has worked closely with the Detroit Lions organization and the Ford Family in his role as President and CEO of Ford Estates.
“I am most pleased to announce Rod Wood as our new Team President,” Mrs. Ford said. “Rod’s familiarity with our organization in his role as President and CEO of Ford Estates and his accomplishments in the business world not only make him an ideal choice as Team President, but will also help ensure a smooth and positive transition for our organization.
