WATCH: Kronwall Out 2-4 Weeks; Miller Out 4-6 Months
DETROIT (WJBK) - Tuesday seemed like a normal day at Joe Louis Arena as the Detroit Red Wings have points in six of their last seven games, that was until Red Wings Head Coach Jeff Blashill spoke.
"Nick [Kronwall] had surgery done this morning. He had his knee scoped. It was something that's been planned for a little bit here," Blashill said. "He'll be out 2-4 weeks is what we estimate."
Blashill talked about how they timed it up with the NHL All-Star break which goes from January 26th to February 2nd, Mike Green will likely take over at point on the #1 power play, while Brendan Smith said he was getting some power play time during Tuesday's practice. That wasn't all the bad news.
"Drew [Miller] had major surgery, reconstructive ACL as well as meniscus repair," Blashill said. "He'll be out 4-6 months."
Blashill added surgery was done Friday of last week and wouldn't completely rule him out for the playoffs depending on how far they go.
Petr Mrazek will be in goal Wednesday as the Red Wings host the St. Louis Blues.
