WATCH: Pistons add Thomas & Brown in NBA Draft

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WJBK) - The Detroit Pistons traded for Creighton guard Khyri Thomas with the Philadelphia 76ers who picked him 38th overall for two future second round picks.

“We’re very happy tonight," Senior Advisor Ed Stefanski said.  "It’s a lot more than we thought we were going to get.”

Thomas, 22, played three years at Creighton averaging 11.2 points per game, 2,5 assists, 4.6 rebounds and a shooting percentage of .511.  He shot a career high 41% from three last season while averaging a career high 15.1 points.  He also had a career high .538 shooting percentage a season ago.

The Nebraska native is 6'3", 210 pounds and was a two-time Big East defensive player of the year.

“I know I can do a lot more than just defend," Thomas said. "Especially on the offensive end."

Detroit then selected Miami guard Bruce Brown 42nd overall.

"It feels great...going to a good organization," Brown said in conference call with reporters. "Can’t wait to get there.”

The 6'5", 190 pound guard played two seasons at Miami while averaging 11.7 points per game, 3.5 assists & 6.2 rebounds.  He shot a career .442 from the field and .316 from three. Brown, 21, missed the final 12 games of the 2017-18 season with a left foot injury. 

"Fully cleared...good to go," Brown said on injury. "100 percent.”

"These two kids are solid people...tough as nails," Stefanski said. "They can make plays.”

Stefanski added that both players are being projected as wings.

The Pistons did not have a first round pick after using it in the trade for Blake Griffin.

Locally, Michigan State's Jaren Jackson went 4th overall to the Memphis Grizzlies while his teammate Miles Bridges went 12th overall to the Charlotte Hornets.

Michigan forward Moe Wagner was selected 25th overall to the Los Angeles Lakers.
