A lower court ruling rejected arguments that Donald Trump's role during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol meant he should be ineligible from the presidency.

The judge questioned Engoron's authority to police Trump's speech outside the courtroom - such as his frequent gripes about the case on social media and in comments to TV cameras in the courthouse hallway.

Michigan moved up its presidential primary election to late February, making it an even more important state to win for those vying for the Republican and Democratic nomination.

The laws boost access to support services for domestic violence victims, ensures the blurring of images of victims shown in court, and expands the definition of certain misdemeanors.

The state was critical to Biden's victory in 2020, partly because of the president's support from Arab Americans that call Michigan home.
