Over 150 Michigan-Made Gift Ideas
Collectively, November and December are undeniably the biggest spending season of each year. That’s why Buy Michigan Now, a campaign designed to promote and support Michigan businesses, is urging residents to think carefully about how and where they do their holiday shopping. To make buying local easier, the initiative has released its annual Holiday Gift Guide. “If we all band together and make a concerted effort to shop locally, we can really make a noticeable impact on our economy,” said Buy Michigan Now founder, Lisa Diggs. “Our annual gift guide is a valuable tool to provide fun ideas as well as access to small businesses around the state. This sixteenth edition of the guide is divided into multiple categories, totally more than 150 different suggestions. Categories include Beauty & Grooming, Classes, Experiences, Gift Sets, For Her, For Him, Holiday Décor, Home or Office, Jewelry, Michigan Love, Yooper Spirit, and more. There are also plenty of food and beverage suggestions, as well as three book categories to celebrate the work of local authors, and drive business to independent Michigan bookstores. Each product listing includes some information about the author or company that created the product, along with a link to purchase the product online from a small, Michigan-based business. Most gift suggestions are representative of a whole line of products, so there are literally thousands of ways people can buy local through this gift guide. Users will find products from Metro Detroit, all the way up to the Keweenaw Peninsula. Buy Michigan Now is funded by Michigan-based organizations that become paying members and generous sponsors. No businesses pay a fee to be included in the gift guide. Companies and artists interested in joining the campaign may do so online by visiting the website. Organizations interested in becoming sponsors of the campaign or any of its programs may contact Lisa Diggs via Lisa@BuyMichiganNow.com.
