Champagne toast alternatives for your New Year's party

If you're planning to toast the new year with a drink, it doesn't have to be the traditional champagne toast.

Nick Britsky of NickDrinks.com joined us on The Nine to give us two champagne alternatives for your party. One's alcoholic and one is not.

The "hot shot" is the alcoholic beverage, and it's a simple cocktail with just three ingredients. It's made of equal parts Galliano L'Autentico (you'll recognize the iconic bottle), hot coffee or espresso, and whipped or heavy cream.

It's a favorite winter drink in snowy Scandanavian countries and is sure to warm you up on a chilly Northwest night. Also, if you're hosting, you could end the night with this quick, cozy drink.

You'll just need 1 part Galliano L'Autentico; 1 part hot coffee or espresso; and 1 part whipped cream. Just layer the Galliano and coffee in a shot glass, and top with whipped cream.

The holidays can mean a lot of drinking. If you're ready for a break but still want to feel like a grown up, this is the drink for you.

For the Q'fresher you'll need 1 oz. cucumber juice; 2 oz. Q Spectacular Grapefruit; and Q Spectacular Ginger Ale.

First, rim a highball glass with Tajin. Add all ingredients over ice, stir gently and serve with a straw. Garnish with a cucumber wheel.

Enjoy!
