Savco Kitchen Tavolino's bacon wrapped dates
(WJBK) - In the Fox 2 Cooking School, Savco Kitchen Tavolino teams up with an Ann Arbor-based nonprofit organization called One More Moment to kick off a big event Wednesday.
The organization grants one more special moment to people battling late stages of cancer.
Eve of the Eve event is on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:30 p.m. For more information on the event, visit eveoftheeve.org.
The black tie event features food catered by Savco Kitchen/ Tavolino. Jules Botham shares a sweet and savory recipe of bacon wrapped dates. Everything is better when it's wrapped in bacon, right?

Chorizo Blend
Ingredients:
1lb ground pork
1 t fennel seed, ground
¾ T salt
1 T black pepper
1 T sweet paprika
1 T hot paprika
1 t cumin
1 t oregano
1 t cinnamon
1 orange, zested
1 t sugar
Directions:
Mix all ingredients above.
Romesco Sauce yield: 1 qt
Ingredients:
½ cup olive oil
1 whole red pepper
6 ripe tomatoes, halved
9 cloves of garlic
1 spanish onion, julienned
¼ cup toasted almonds
1 oz white bread, cubed and toasted
1 t sherry vinegar
1 t sweet paprika
½ T salt
Directions:
Coat vegetables in olive oil and lightly season with salt and pepper. On sheet tray, first spread out julienned onions and whole garlic cloves. Lay tomatoes and red peppers on top and roast at 350* until tender.
Peel roasted vegetables (also seeding roasted peppers and coring tomatoes). Chop tomatoes and using a colander, deseed tomatoes (put chopped tomatoes in colander and shake back and forth to get rid of seeds). Put in container and blend with burr mixer. Add remaining ingredients and blend until becomes a thick, smooth sauce.
