15-year-old charged with sexually assaulting student in Central High School stairway

A 15-year-old male has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female student at Central High School. 

According ot the Wayne County prosecutor's office, the incident took place around 3 p.m. October 8 when the teen took two cellphones from the 15-year-old female victim's desk.

Officials say she followed him into a hallway and he grabbed her by the neck, forcing her into a back stairway. It is alleged he choked her, pulled her down the stairs and sexually assaulted her.

The teen was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as larceny under $200.

Prosecutors say the teen was adult designated, meaning he could be sentenced as a juvenile, or as a defendant, or the judge can choose to blend the sentence.

The teen was given a $25,000 cash bond and if bond is posted, he may not have contact with the victim or any potential witnesses.
