WATERFORD, Mich. (WJBK) - A 24-year-old woman was found shot to death in the middle of a Waterford street Sunday night and police say a suspect is in custody for the murder.
It was just before 9 p.m. Sunday on LaSalle Street when neighbors said they heard a commotion outside. Then the unmistakable sound of gunshots.
"We heard first shot then soon after that two more shots," one anonymous witness said. "I ran to a window to look outside and saw the body laying in the street."
She wasn't the only on there. Neighbors said a man was close by.
"He was looking very agitated and within two or three minutes a silver minivan pulled up and he was yelling at them I got to get out of here I got to go and they kinda slowed down enough for him to jump in the side door and they headed toward Telegraph," the witness said.
Police have identified the victim as a 24-year-old woman but have not released her name as they work to contact her family. Investigators say she's not from the area.
Police also said they are still investigating but evidence led them to a house in Pontiac where a suspect was taken into custody.
Investigators also say a search warrant was executed and they are still gathering evidence.
