3-year-old honored by Warren for saving her mom's life

WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - Three-year-old Savannah Lavely is being called the youngest hero ever in the city of Warren.

"She likes to help people but doesn't need to brag about it," said Mayor Jim Fouts. Savannah was honored Tuesday with a mayoral proclamation from Fouts.

"For her strength and courage at the young age of 3 years old to help save her mother’s life," Fouts said, reading the proclamation.

Savannah was first seen on FOX 2 last month. 

"I had to rescue mommy," she said.

Savannah's mother, Jessa, says while she and Savannah had been walking their dog, she collapsed and had a seizure.

"She jumped into action and just knew what to do,” said Jessa.

Savannah retraced her steps nearly two blocks away, and is seen on home security videos running to get help.

“She was able to knock on the door to get my parents,” said Jessa. She took them right to where I was."

Savannah's mother was still unconscious when paramedics arrived.

“She's just amazing,” her dad, Steven, said. "What she had done for her mommy amazes us every day."

Savannah's parents say they're not surprised by their daughter’s courage and quick thinking. Her parents say their three-year-old excels at everything she does.

“I just feel like I need to put all of my time into her and see what she grows up to be,” said Jessa.

When asked what she thought about the early recruitment Savannah is already getting from police and fire, Jessa laughed. 

"She wants to be a princess."
