Police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing baby in Detroit.
They say 5-month-old Tonya Denise Monique Smith was grabbed out of her mother's arms at a house on the 19,000 block of Hoover around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Police believe she was taken by Michael Hunter, 21. He's a black male about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 170 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair. The suspect has a bipolar condition. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and Nike shoes.
"Michael Hunter has somewhat of a questionable living arrangement, so he may be showing up all over the city, so we want to make sure we cover all the bases and talk to as many people as we can," says Detroit Police Department Sgt. Michael Woody.
Witnesses say he took off on foot and was last seen near 7 Mile and Hoover. He is not known to have a vehicle.
Investigators are currently looking through surveillance videos at nearby businesses, in hopes of catching a glimpse of where the two may be.
If you spot either Hunter or the baby, or have information that could lead police to their whereabouts, you're asked to contact the Detroit Police Department.
