AMBER Alert issued for 13-year-old Deontae Mitchell
DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities have issued an AMBER Alert for a 13-year-old boy who is believed to have been kidnapped from Detroit's east side.
His name is Deontae Mitchell. Deontae is about 4 feet 11 inches tall, and weighs about 86 pounds. He has hazel eyes and was last seen wearing a lime green Nautica shirt with gray jogging pants and black gym shoes.
Deontae's cousin says Deontae went missing around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31. They were on their bicycles at Nino's Market in the 15900 block of Warren Avenue on the city's east site. The cousin told police a drunk man dropped some money while urinating outside the market, and that Deontae picked it up and they both began to ride away on their bikes.
A short time later, police say the cousin heard Deontae had been grabbed by a black male in a 2002 Chevy Impala and was being held against his will.
Authorities describe the suspect as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 175 lbs. He is said to be around 40 years old. His 2002 Chevy Impala is also said to have a loud muffler.
The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. He may be carrying a .22 caliber pistol.
