Bedrock debuts final plans for redevelopment of Hudon's site

DETROIT (WJBK) - Bedrock debuts its final plans for the old Hudson site. When it's completed, the footprint of the old Hudson's building will be filled with two buildings.

One an 800 ft residential building, which will become the city's tallest building, surpassing the Renassiance Center. Next to it, a building that's a mix of office, retail, and green space. It will cost 900 million dollars, made possible by Dan Gilbert's company, Bedrock.

"We're working towards getting plans ready for the ground breaking and to support and develop a schedule," said Bedrock developer Jozef Guziewicz.

The plans are different than a rendering that was revealed back in February after five years of design. Then developers decided to scratch it and start over again.

Some of the highlights of the new design include an observation deck, an outdoor marketplace between the two buildings, and loading zone with a turn table for devliery trucks so they never have to back in and clog up traffic.

Groundbreaking is set to take place on December 1st of this year. The project is estimated to be complete later than 2020.
