Belleville family deals with toppled tree on power line for 2 weeks
BELLEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - Chad Hall's backyard includes a colorful swing set and slides, outdoor toys, a cute play house - and a huge toppled tree leaning on wires.
"I can't go use my backyard or anything," he said.
Holding his 2-year-old, Lucy, Hall of Belleville says he is frustrated Thursday after wind and rain rolled through - but this didn't just happen. The tree fell about two weeks ago. The massively annoying and dangerous situation has remained untouched.
"We just want someone to get the stuff taken care of," Hall said.
Hall first called Comcast.
"Comcast was suggesting we cut down the tree ourselves, but I'm like no one's going to want to go by a live power line," Hall said.
Then DTE weighed in.
"DTE seemed a little more worried about it," Hall said. "They came and looked and said the pole needed to be replaced. We haven't seen anything from them since."
The problem isn't just that strained wife and that cracked pole, it is also affecting their neighbor's house.
Hall says while his neighbors are on vacation, he's getting fed up.
"I'm pretty worried someone touching the branches hanging back there is going to get really hurt," he said.
FOX 2 reached out to DTE, already working on roughly 50 downed lines Thursday. DTE did not explaining the delay, first sending a supervisor, then a tree trimming crew out Thursday afternoon.
The crew removed the tremendous tree and replaced the cracked pole.
