Clinton Township woman charged in death of 1-month-old daughter

FOX 2 (WJBK) - A Clinton Township woman was arraigned in the death of her 1-month-old daughter Thursday in Macomb County court.
Investigators say that Kia Barkley, 31. shook her daughter and threw her to the ground. She later died from severe injuries one month later after being hospitalized.
Police say the instance of physical abuse happened on March 15 of this year before her death about one month later.
Barkley was charged with felony murder and child abuse in the first degree - both life felonies.
Barkley was arraigned in 41B Clinton Township District Court where Magistrate Ryan Zemke set bond at $1 million cash/surety, no 10%.
If bond is met Barkley is to wear a GPS tether and be on house arrest. The probable cause hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
