Detroit schools launch #ILoveDPS program

Detroit Public Schools is launching a program to boost enrollment.

#ILoveDPS is running throughout the weekend, starting with Saturday as "Open Doors Day."

District leaders are hoping students, parents, teachers and alumni will promote the positive aspects of the district's 97 schools.

"What makes DPS a choice for students is that there are curriculum teams that are based in the whole district that help the teachers and the staff with the curriculum in their rooms but also that it's a unified group of individuals, instructive specialists, network leaders, that help support the schools so it's not just one school but it's a group of schools helping to help educate students," said Ludington Magnet Middle Honor School Principal Allan Cosma.

District leaders said Detroit Public Schools are highly competitive with other districts, not just in the Detroit area but nationwide.
