ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (FOX 2) - The Dime Store restaurant in Rochester Hills will shutter this weekend, just under two years after the Detroit-founded eatery expanded into Oakland County.
Dime Store Rochester Hills opened in 2024, a decade after the original brunch spot opened in Detroit. On Wednesday, the eatery announced that Mother's Day would be the last day for the Rochester Hills spot, while Detroit will remain open.
Financial issues were to blame for the restaurant's demise.
"Over the past couple of years we poured a tremendous amount of time, energy and heart into trying to make that happen," the restaurant's owners wrote on social media. "But restaurants ultimately have to work financially. The simple truth is that this one didn’t. We tried a lot of different things along the way to make it sustainable, but in the end we ran out of runway."
Dime Store Rochester Hills will be open for Mother's Day on Sunday before shuttering for good.
