An elderly woman's dog is being credited for saving her life.

A fire tore through Highland Township home early Friday morning. The 73-year-old homeowner was asleep at the time - but her beloved dog wasn't.

Her labrador retriever Ginger woke her up and they were both able to escape uninjured.

The fire started in the garage, destroying two cars, a motorcycle and the roof.

We're told a good samaritan let the woman and her dog sit in his truck until police and fire arrived.

The family is hoping to track him down to thank him.
