The Detroit Dog Rescue is putting out an urgent call hoping you and your family can give one of their dogs a forever home.

Their stories are incredible tales of survival:

Bolt was hit by a car and abandoned and he now does water therapy to help strengthen his muscles.

Blueberry is thriving after being shot.

And Evelyn is working the desk at their temporary home, Union Lake Veterinary Hospital. She was abandoned, rescued .and then gave birth to puppies

"We are working really hard to work with DDR on setting these dogs up for success in their new home environment," said Annette Engler, Union Lake Veterinary Hospital.

All of the dogs are looking for homes, whether it be temporary, foster homes or permanent homes.

"Detroit Dog Rescue, right now we have 103 dogs in our care, we are at capacity," said Kristina Rinaldi, DDR. "Every day we are getting a hundred more calls about stray dogs or dogs that need our help. Right now we can't take in any more dogs - especially medical cases - until we get these guys into homes."

"Especially around the holiday season it is hard to find good places for them," said Dustin Banooni, DDR. "We would like to really pump up our adoptions at this time to make everyone have a happy holiday."

If you foster a dog through DDR, the rescue provides food, toys, bowls, leash, medical care and whatever else may be needed said Bridget Maniere of DDR.
