Donation page set up for mother stabbed at GM Tech Center

(WJBK) - The woman who is accused of stabbing her mother at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren went before a judge Friday morning to learn exactly what charges she faces.

Chevonne Taylor, 32, has been charged with Assault to Commit Murder and with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. She could spend the rest of her life in prison if convicted of these two charges.

Authorities allege Taylor pulled out a steak knife and stabbed her mother nine times several times Wednesday morning. Her mother, 52-year-old Stephanie Kerr, is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery. She was stabbed in the neck, back and abdomen. We're told she had a collapsed lung and a perforated diaphragm, among other injuries.

Friends of Kerr say she is speaking but still has a long road to recovery. Her son's football coach created a GoFundMe account to help the family with future expenses. If you'd like to donate you can do that here.

A contracted valet attendant is being called a hero after he interfered with the stabbing when he pulled out a gun he was permitted to carry. Didarul Sarder told FOX 2 he was fired and escorted off the property after the incident, but SP+ Corp. says Sarder has not been terminated but that he is currently placed on suspension per company poilcy.

Taylor is due back in court on February 23. The judge set her bond at $500,000.
